Italica

Next stop on our fast paced tour of Spain was Italica. It is right outside of Seville and is the home of MANY Roman ruins. The kids loved this place. It was all outside with lots of places to run. William also liked all the arrows pointing which way to go.

The tile floors in the homes were beautiful. I can’t imagine how long each one would have taken!

William tried to take over Nick’s job as map reader.

Just walking down a Roman street checking out the neighborhood.

editspain 375editiphone 131Then came my favorite part the coliseum! Maybe the kids favorite too because they loved running in the tunnels.editspain 433editspain 446editspain 450editspain 455editspain 504editspain 470editspain 472

Then we stopped across the street for a nice dinner of fried fish, chesse, bread (with amazing dipping sauce). Yum!

Will loves to knock on every door. Yes, he does have pant issues. Madeline just loves to pose for pictures. They are a pretty cute team.

Roda and Cadiz

Next on our adventures was a day trip to Roda and Cadiz. These are both beautiful coastal towns.

Sometimes McDonald’s is the only place open. William was having dreams of his fries.

Next stop Cadiz… This the oldest continuously-inhabited city in Spain.

The views from the Torre Tavira were amazing!

The catacombs under the Cadiz Cathedral were amazing. William got a bit excited at seeing the cross and ran towards it tripping on a tomb stone. He left a trail of blood from a busted lip and in all future pictures he has a nice scab. Little boys!  He did enjoy the ice cream shop across from the cathedral. Madeline was our super trooper and a great walker. What a beautiful day in a gorgeous city.

A Christmas in Spain!

Santa had already brought the kids their gifts but he had a few to spare for 2 really great travelers. A new Barbie for Madeline and Play dough for William.

We played a bunch of Madeline’s new game headbandz.

Then Nick’s squadron had a Christmas dinner together. Everyone pitched in and we lined the TLF hallway with chairs. It was an unusual Christmas to say the least.

editspain 204

William just liked running laps and checking out what other people were eating.

editspain 206

We sure missed our family but our Air Force friends made it not too shabby. I wonder what our next Christmas adventure holds.

Christmas Eve

After Nick finished work we loaded up the rental and headed to Seville. What a gorgeous town!

editiphone 033

We walked by a yummy bakery and we each picked a treat. DELICIOUS!

editiphone 034

The Church of Seville. It was started in 1402 and completed in 1506. It is the 3rd largest church in Europe and is beautiful. It is also the burial site of Christopher Columbus.

We ate yummy pizza while sitting on the Cathedral steps and enjoying the lights. There were horse drawn carriages and great people watching. This was a very different Christmas Eve but so fun!
