Birthday Time

What a wild and crazy few days we have had around the Schindler house. We have been celebrating Madeline's birthday as much as we can! The party started Friday night when my parents braved the ice and snow to come to Altus. They safely made it here just in time to see Madeline off to bed. Then Saturday morning Nick started smoking the pork shoulder for our party. The snow had quit and was even starting to melt! That night all our friends The Shaubs, and The Browns came over to celebrate our 1 year old. They were the first friends to come meet our Madeline one year ago! Then we ate Nick's yummy pulled pork and ate some crazy colored cupcakes. I had made Madeline a bear cake just like my Grandma made me 32 years ago, same pan and everything! She was a hoot. She just barely picked at it and didn't even get messy! What a princess. Madeline and Isabella played and played. Then on Sunday we headed to church and back home to watch basketball and play lots of cards. Then Monday Grandpa went to Kindermusik with Madeline! We had so much fun! Then we went crazy and rearranged the entire dining room. It sure looks much better! Thanks Mom & Dad! Then it was the actually day! The Birthday Day!!! Madeline enjoyed a yummy breakfast of eggs and strawberries and then said goodbye to Grandma and Grandpa. We spent the rest of the day seeing friends and playing with all our fun toys. Today (Wednesday) we had our best girlfriends over for a play date including Cheerios! What a fun few days it has been! I still can't believe that my baby is 1 year old! She sure is lots of fun. We went for her 1 year check up today and learned that she weighs 23.6 pounds and is 31 inches long! Her head is a big 18 inches!!! That is a bunch of brains in there!
