Thanksgiving 2009

We were able to once again catch a hop to McChord AFB and drive on to Portland for Thanksgiving. This year we actually arrived at a great time and had a super smooth flight.  It was so nice getting to see Nick’s brother Eric and his wife Sally. They have a very well behaved doggie named Sarah. Madeline was a little nervous about Sarah the first day but by day number two she was hugging, tickling, and playing with Sarah.  I hope Sarah enjoyed all the attention. We spent the days shopping in real stores, taking walks, playing cards, and EATING! Sally whipped up a fabulous Thanksgiving feast along with one of the best chocolate pies ever!  Thanks for the great trip Uncle Eric and Aunt Sally!

Can you believe she left those noise cancelling headphones on the entire time on both flights?

Go Shockers!

Tonight we are enjoying a little Wichita State Basketball. It is so rare that it is actually on our TV here in Oklahoma. Madeline was all about cheering the team on. Too bad she fell asleep at half time! Thanks Jill for the cutest cheer outfit ever! I sure thought it would be FOREVER until she fit in it when you gave it to me 2 years ago! CRAZY!!!

Go SHOCKS!

Yes, she now yells CHEESE when I take her picture and squeezes her face up! Our Christmas card picture is going to be fabulous this year.

Madeline’s New Past Time

Madeline loves to try and put diapers on her dolls. It has become a huge part of her day.She gets a few diapers and begins the process of laying them out on the floor.  I guess the way I do with it all opened up and ready for a cute rear end.  Then she gathers all the dolls and stuffed animals around the house and tries and tries to get the diaper on. Pretty soon she will come find me and then we will “together” diaper the babies.  Here is the way I found her Junie B. Jones Captain Field Day doll today. Do you think we need to go down a size in diapers?

Esther Party

We just completed our Beth Moore study on the book of Esther. To celebrate, the ladies headed on over for a feast and viewing of the movie One Night With the King.  There was so much yummy food. There would be more pictures but I was too busy eating!  What a great group of gals and I can’t wait to start Daniel in January!

Purple Princess

Here is a picture of our purple princess from after church. Yes, she does have a purple “fur” coat to go with. She is now fascinated with the camera and runs over to see herself after every picture. It makes it a little bit more difficult to take pictures. :)

Happy Princess                                               on a  mission to see herself.

Following our short photo shoot as I was changing my clothes she came running in the room yelling Boo Boo Boo Boo. She had found a band aid and invented a wound on her hand that just really needed a band aid. It sure made me laugh and yes I did cover up the boo boo with a nice boring brown band aid. I hope everyone has a relaxing Sunday afternoon.

It is getting to be that time of year…

We continued our tradition of Christmas decorating on Veteran's day this year. I think we might be the first house in Altus with our outside Christmas lights on.  Nick sure did a fabulous job and now I am really in the Christmas Spirit.  I have been Christmas shopping and crafting like crazy. Here is a picture of our tree. Due to the many times Madeline has heard the word no with the tree she now gets up in the morning points at the tree and says NO! NO!  Way to share & pass on the Christmas Spirit.

Nick took off Thursday and Friday to work on his Master’s class …so the ever so helpful Madeline and I decided to give him some quiet quality study time. We headed to the park to meet Eva and Isabella. Don’t people know that we have more then one other friend at the park? We need more swings!  Good thing Isabella is petite and Eva is a good sharer! Enjoy the pictures of the three cute little ones!

62nd Birthday!

November 7th was my Mommy’s 62nd birthday. She was super excited because it means the beginning of social security!  My parents were gracious enough to drive once again to Altus and they even stopped and picked up Nick at the OKC airport from his week long New Mexico Safety class. This means they didn’t arrive into Altus until after midnight. What a way to start a trip!  The next morning we celebrated all day. Lots of chocolate cake, card playing, and Madeline chasing. Nick smoked out 2 huge pork shoulders. One of Mom’s birthday presents was a big thing of yummy meat to take home. We are so blessed to have such a great family. Yes, I will brag. Our parents have always made sacrifices to provide the best for us our entire life. Even now they put our comfort and happiness before their own. Nick and I were both blessed to grow up in homes that desired to do what is right… even when it was not popular or easy.  We have families that pray for us and with us, love to talk about God and what they are learning in the Bible and even admit what they are struggling with. I think Nick and I have the best families in the world and no I won’t trade or share them!  Nick and I are sure blessed to look to our families as examples for raising our Madeline.

Psalm 112: 1-2

Praise the LORD. Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who finds great delight in his commands. His children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.
